The Hard Sayings of Jesus

You Cannot Fix Yourself

When things are too big for you to carry, or to deal with alone… It’s time to ask for help.

Matthew 5:21-22

“You have heard that it was said to the people long ago, ‘You shall not murder, and anyone who murders will be subject to judgment.’ But I tell you that anyone who is angry with a brother or sister will be subject to judgment. Again, anyone who says to a brother or sister, ‘Raca,’ is answerable to the court. And anyone who says, ‘You fool!’ will be in danger of the fire of hell.

Psalm 121:2

My help comes from the LORD, Who made heaven and earth.

Be Perfect

Be Perfect

Jan 13, 2017

What attitude or  notion do I need to give up in order to show I follow Jesus in being merciful?

Matthew 5:48

Be perfect, therefore, as your heavenly Father is perfect.

Luke 6:36

Be merciful, just as your Father is merciful.

Humility. Humility. Humility.

Philippians 2:3-4

Do nothing out of selfish ambition or vain conceit. Rather, in humility value others above yourselves,  not looking to your own interests but each of you to the interests of the others.

Can God Really Forgive Me?

Matthew 12:31-32

And so I tell you, every kind of sin and slander can be forgiven, but blasphemy against the Spirit will not be forgiven. Anyone who speaks a word against the Son of Man will be forgiven, but anyone who speaks against the Holy Spirit will not be forgiven, either in this age or in the age to come.

  • God is loving and God is just
  • God alone sees your heart
  • God knows your intentions
  • God loves you
Honor and Hate

Honor and Hate

How much do you love Jesus? Are you willing to leave everything/everyone to follow Him?

Luke 14:29

For if you lay the foundation and are not able to finish it, everyone who sees it will ridicule you.

Politics and Love

Acts 23:5 (NIV)

Paul replied, “Brothers, I did not realize that he was the high priest; for it is written: ‘Do not speak evil about the ruler of your people.’”

Ephesians 4:31-32

Get rid of all bitterness, rage and anger, brawling and slander, along with every form of malice. Be kind and compassionate to one another, forgiving each other, just as in Christ God forgave you.

Philippians 2:2

Then make my joy complete by being like-minded, having the same love, being one in spirit and of one mind.
